Center of Excellence of Jean Monnet (CEJM) at University of Wrocław was formed on a basis of the decision of European Commission for the years 2014-2017. It is based on the former Jean Monnet Chair, exisiting at Chair of International and European Law of University of Wrocław since 2010. The Center is a part and the higest level of the EU Jean Monnet program launched in 1989, which aims to foster and stimulate teaching, research and disucussions on European integration at the level of universities – within the frames of EU as well as globally. Currently, there are nearly 200 Centers of this kind worldwide. The newly created Center of Excellence at University of Wrocław is the first one in Poland which concentrates on studies and research on the EU law.
The main aim of Center of Excellence is to create a platform for cooperation between researchers in the field of EU law. Moreover, Center promotes knowledge on processes of legal, politic and historic intergration within the European Union. It aims to promote and foster a cooperation between Professors of Jean Monnet Chair, Directors of Jean Monnet Chairs and academic staff focused on the EU issues. Last but not least, it is the organisation created for cooperation with the academic environment, willing to actively participate in local and regional initiatives promoting the EU integration and understanding of fundamental rights.
Center of Excellence of Jean Monnet is the program co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and by University of Wrocław.
